You must have a super capper to do It in 2 seconds. It takes that long to put a cap in my bench capper.

I put my bottle a in a bottle crate. With swing tops I am closing the gap whilst filling the next bottle.
Nope, just a wing type capper. Attach cap to magnet push handles down and it's done

Slight tangent to the original post... has anyone found a plastic crate that will hold the swing top bottles well and still allow for stacking? Most of the ones on ebay are for milk bottles or beer bottles that are shorter than the 500ml swing tops. I think. Unless I'm mistaken...?

Just use a good, sturdy, cardboard beer box. I find Tsingtao the best. You can get 18 Grolsch bottles in them and I have never had any issues with stacking them, even thought the box lids won't close. Grolsch bottles are very robust.

I use the grolsch crates, great for 500ml also.

Probably the worst beer on the market, but when secondhand bottles are generally £1.00 each, and yet ASDA sell Grolsh at £1.50, i'd prefer to go through the pain of drinking the stuff.
I'm curently in the process of building my swingtop collection up.

It does actually make bottling a tad easier and quicker..

Its a tough life, yeah its a bit **** but after 5 or 6 it becomes less painful

Probs a daft question but does it make any material difference that Grolsch bottles are green rather than the usual preference of amber?

Got told on here that green bottles are not as good as brown due to light potentially affecting the beer.

Yep I'm sure that's a fact but is the deterioration material in a HB context? You can imagine brown being needed for beers that sit in shop windows, on shelves etc but in the recesses of our sheds, brew caves etc? Reason I ask is that I have studiously avoided green bottles but if so many members seem to use Grolsch bottles then presumably any deterioration is not noticeable over 12 months say?

Im just going to store bottles under the stairs, not overly worried as they are drunk within 6 weeks. I find it difficult to build up a supply lol

I have no fear of my beer going off in green bottles.
It's hardly settled before I've drunk it all.

Some green Grolsch bottles, some brown misc. ones from German Christmas markets; I have a lot of 660ml Fischer bottles picked up from French supermarkets when on camping holidaya when the kids were wee. The youngest is now 35 so that gives an idea of how they last.

The Fischer Alsacian beer used to be really nice too!
( Oh dear - just looked it up in Google ... wikiP says
Fischer was a brewery in Schiltigheim, France. Heineken took over the owners in 1996 and closed the brewery in 2009.
Sigh.)
If you google the name and see ythe prices people are asking for the empty bottles .. I could probably get a deposit for a camper van...

It must just be me but I can't see how swing tops can cut so much time off bottling

It takes 2 seconds to put a cap on, I'm guessing the same for swing tops?
I seem to have trouble keeping the bottle still whilst capping.

Yeah, expensive for a bottle with nothing in it. I have looked around for other swing top beers, however only found Grolsch
