Working our a sg for wow

His all.

I've done a demijohn of wow tonight from one of the recipes on here with 1 litre red grape juice. 1.5 litres of apple juice 800g sugar and the usual other additions ie yeast etc. i didnt take an sg reading.
Can you work out the original sg by adding together all the sugars in the juice and the sugar added?

A rough guide is 1100g total sugar fermented to .995 or below will give you 13%.

Cheers for that.I think it was around 1128 total sugar. Do you let them just ferment out or stop them at a certain stage?

I let them ferment until I only see a bubble every couple of minutes, I used to use a hydrometer but I haven't for a long time, most will get to .990 but not much further and that is a dry wine.
 
Can you back sweeten on completion if the dryness isn't to everyones taste?
 
Yes but it's not something I have done for ages as I now prefer my wine on the drier side, I used to add two teaspoons of sugar to my wine (two litre bottles) and shake, them jusr before opening but members now use sweetener as its non fermentable so no bottle bomb worries.
