The plebs will be in meltdown when they awake from their slumber today to find their favourite waste of time is broken, how will they fill their time until its fixed, stress levels will be at an all time high as they cannot see what their "friends" had for breakfast or are wearing today.

I suspect that there are people who view us - and our use of this brewing forum - in much the same way.... isn't there something about not judging others lest you be judged yourself?

Have to agree, its exactly the same thing, just a different name.

I might sign up to Facebook as I have a distant cousin that lives in Australia and I badly need to know what he had for breakfast this morning! I just pray to God Almighty that it was TOAST!!!

I don't think he'll be out of bed yet!

I saw a lot of comments about Facebook not working correctly yesterday. I had a terrible urge to contact the developer to get it fixed, but I didn't know his name.

I couldn't disagree more, we are a bunch of (on the whole) old farts making beer, wine and cider we are not friends we are a group of people sharing knowledge and discussing our hobby.

While I do get there are some plus points to having a Facebook account (keeping in touch with distant family and friends etc) when you judge your popularity by the amount of facebook friends you have you really do need to re-evaluate your life, if you have 300 friends they are not really your friends!

I used to work with a lad who used to have his phone on top of his toolbox every time he passed it he would click the screen to see if he had a notification he rarely went further until one day he did the above and immediately picked up the phone and proudly informed us a tree had just fallen down near his house, i had to bite my tongue.

I know what you are saying and I'm not disagreeing but we are still using a social platform to chat to people we dont really know, yes it is because we have something in common but it is still the same idea as any other social network,
I'm on a couple of other forums and also on Facebook,
It is up to the user how often they check and yes some people do check constantly and put absolute rubbish on there, of it wasnt Facebook it would be something else I'm sure

I guess its down to what social media means to you and my view is the majority of facebook users are a bunch of sad twats who have nothing better to do than constantly check their phones waiting for the latest update on what their hundreds of "friends" are up to and its usually not much, that is not how i view this forum.

Disagree away my good man. My point is that there will be (I assure you) people who regard us as just as tragic as you regard the people you describe. Don't get me wrong I'm not into Facebook, and I agree with the thrust of some of your comments.

You may be right, i would like to know what these people were searching for when they found us. :laugh8:
