Anyone use antiseptic wipes, on thermometer or hydrometer, before dipping in brew?

Occasionally use anti bacterial hand gel before plunging arm in the brew to retrieve someting.

I once saw a fruit fly land on the inside of my FV just as i was about to put the lid on i got some hand gel and smeared a little in the area and never had a problem.

Not used them in the way you’ve described but I do keep a packet which I use to wipe around the rim of the fermenter after putting the lid on. A spray bottle of starsan is the more conventional approach for this but I’m lazy!
