Has anybody brewed this yet?

I'm going to have a go at the weekend but struggling to decide on a water profile. Was going to go with Randy Mosher Ideal Pale Ca=110, Mg=18, Na=16, Cl=50, S04=275 but not sure about the sulfate being a bit high, anybody any thoughts?

Cheers

I home brewed this thursday before last. It went into keg last weekend and I'll tap it ... I don't know, probably by next weekend as I've people staying over. It is very pale and it has what I would consider a lot of oats. The sample I tried when kegging was very pleasant with a little hop burn present. My simcoe was very fresh and good, the centennial not so great. I also brewed 1,000L of an almost identical recipe last thursday, but with el dorado instead of simcoe. It'll go into cask either thursday or friday this week. It finished at 1.008.

Hi, thanks for sharing this recipe I brewed it a month or so ago and tried it at the weekend, really pleased with the result light refreshing pale. I did somehow manage to overshoot the og an ended up at 6%

Here’s the recipe, they seemed to have changed the yeast tho, this was a can I picked up last month 952037B9-9264-4791-878F-C6AE80B7BA9A.jpeg8F801096-E078-411F-AB30-6E7E66CA4DEC.png

Caragold - 0.18Kg

Boil for 60 Minutes.

Magnum - 6g at 60'
Simcoe - 20g at 0'
Centennial - 20g at 0'
Simcoe - 80g Dry Hop
Centennial - 40g Dry Hop

Ferment at 19C then a diacetyl rest at 22C.

US05 - 50%
S04 - 50%

I forgot to order ‘extra’ pale malt when I brewed so ended up a bit darker than lightbulb and I bagged the dry hops (pellet) which I won’t be doing again, didn’t get anywhere near the same aroma I have from a similar amount of leaf hops in the past. Will just chuck them in loose next time.

I just used Us05 so I’ve ended up with a pretty crisp pale ale but definitely lacking a bit of hop aroma. It’s also ended up quite bright so will maybe try the New England yeast next time to see if it gives is a bit of haze. Used a 1/2 tsp of Irish moss in the kettle for finings

Went with a yellow dry water profile which I think i’d stick with if I brewed again.

I’ll post a pic next time I open one

What numbers were your Alk, calcium, chloride and sulphate?

Hi, new to the forum and brewing. I have just got the kit from malt miller to make this but when I put it into brewfather it's coming out at 6.2% abv. Can anyone help? Is it just because I'm doing it on my brewzilla and the recipe has been made on different equipment or do you think my yields for the malts maybe wrong(I found them online?)

I saw another post saying they got 6%abv so am i best just reducing the malt to get the 4.5%abv.

If anyone has a rough yield value for each malt that would be great to see if mine are correct.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Malt quantities and yield (from beer smith) from last time I brewed this;

3.36 kg Extra Pale Malt, Maris Otter, yield 82.5%
1 kg Vienna Malt, yield 78%
0.94 flaked oats, yield 80.4%
0.23 kg Cara-Pils/Dextrine, yield 72%
0.23 kg CaraGold, yield 75%
0.18 kg Acid Malt, yield 58.7%

70% mash efficiency, 25 litre batch, OG was bang on 1.045
