Yesterday afternoon I decided to test out my new Brewster Beacon all in 1 system by doing an AG kit.
The kit consisted of :-

4554g Maris Otter Pale Malt
138g Crystal Malt
55g Fuggles 90 mins
14g Dried Elderflowers 15 mins
18g Challenger 10 mins
14g Challenger at flame out
1 Protofloc Tablet 15 mins
1 Nottingham Ale Dried Yeast

The day was rushed TBH as I didn't start until 13:20 and I wanted to get done before Mrs Morph got home at 5pm (tall order on virgin kit).

First I didn't do enough strike water so spent a lot of time faffing about trying to heat more in the HLT as I didn't want to throw in cold water. Anyway mashing done and onto the sparge which went ok and sparged up to 29L for my est 23L Brew.

Boiling was ok too used my new hop spider from Mangrove Jacks and added the first batch of hops and started to skim the protein from the top to try and avoid haze, added the other hops etc and protofloc tablet at the correct intervals and added the chiller in to sanitise 15 mins before the end.

Chilled the wort down to 22C and pumped it into the FV from quite a height, added the yeast and put the Brew into my carbing cupboard which is set at 20C as all my three Brew fridges are full at the moment. I took an OG reading but forgot to write it down (DOH)

I finished at around 18:30 after having a very quick tidy up as my dinner was ready and finished off the cleaning after the meal.

I'll let you know how it turns out in a few weeks.

I'm sure there will be less faffing with experience but you have to start somewhere (says he, who's first AG is currently fermenting...)

I like the idea of starting with an AG kit. That way, you know the final product should be drinkable & all the ingredients are there in their right proportions etc.

Thanks @RichK , I'm not a noob to AG as I did quite a few a couple of years ago but never using an all in one system.
