got an odl lierna italian regulater.i conected it up to a co2 cylinder and it showed about 50lb.then i set the psi to 5psi.if i now turn off the co2 cylinder should the preasure drop to zero on the 50lb gauge and then on the other gauge after a short time.

Ok found a leak on the low pressure side which I fixed so the 5psi is fixed but the high pressure side if cylinder turned off the high pressure gauge dropping to zero,is this normal, thanks

That doesn't happen on mine. The side that says 3 bar (50) stays at 3 bar along with the psi staying at 5, 10, 15 etc. whether the gas is on or off.

If the beer absorbs more CO2 due to not being saturated or due to a temp. change then it will top itself up from the high pressure side making it drop to 0. To test turn up the low pressure side to 10 then turn it down to 5 then turn off the CO2 and see if the high pressure side drops before the low pressure drops below 5. I was recently confused by this myself.
