Hi all, my set up is plastic electrim boiler, plastic fermenters, siphon, corny kegs.

I am going to be investing in a BIAB fine filter bag for boiling - One of my great frustrations is not getting every last drop out of the boiler and I’m hoping by lifting all the sludge out first I can do that better.

But it got me thinking... would there be any harm in lining a fermenter with a similar bag as well? I appreciate that when lifting it out before racking to the keg you would need to do it extremely slowly and gently to not cause disturbance and air pockets. But it would clarify what’s left to rack and eradicate the need for a siphon (and risks it adds) as the remaining fluid could just be tapped out (with a suitably long hose to avoid splashing).

Would also mean I could freely drop hops in during dry hopping stage without a hop bag, which I always feel restricts movement, as id collect all the debris later.

Can anyone see any issues with doing this?

Thanks

I use a piece of sanitised fine voile clipped to a sieve and pour my boiled wort through it into the FV. It removes a lot of slimy crud.
No need to 'boil in the bag'.
