Rumour has it Boddingtons are upping their advertising campaign in response...
"Still the crappiest beer in the world".
They may even be diversifying and making a Belgian style that tastes absolutely nothing like what it should.
It's going to be called their "Crappist" range..

It is so sad, what happened to Bodds. It was a good, if very bitter drink in the 1970's. I have a vague memory, from around that period, of hearing in a pub that "the yeast had upped an' died" when the brewing was either moved or modernised.
Perhaps the old yeast was one that needed copper ions to thrive and when the old copper lined vessels were replaced with stainless steel, that was the beginning of the end?

Never was a fan of Carlsberg even in my youth. It was very poular and still is here in Sweden. Always preferred Tuborg Gold among the danish beers avaiable where I grew up. Sadly Carlsberg now owns Tuborg and many other old scandinavian breweries.

true! haha. but some are more than others. you can buy a Tuborg for 24.90kr (2.40 pounds) or a Carlsberg for 33 kr. Ofcourse craft beer is way more.

Aye, in the booze isle of the supermarket. I was in Oslo in 2008 and the price of a pint was about £8. Managed to find a couple of bars that sold "pints" (more like 450ml) for around the £5 to £6 range. And that was when the pound was strong. Went to Iceland in 2017 and £9 a pint (500ml) was standard price. Went to the Mikkeller bar and paid £13 for 200ml of imperial stout. I mean it was lovely, but that's beside the point...

Having visited the old brewery in Copenhagen, where they have all of their home-market beers on tap, I can attest to the fact they are more than capable of making good beer.

On the tour they even made a joke about “this is out nice beer, if you live in the UK you will never have tasted it!”
