My brother will visit in six weeks. Can I bottle some beer from my pressure barrel where it has been conditioning now for nearly two weeks? I will have a brew ready for his visit but wanted to give him some of my Woodforde's Admiral's Reserve. Should I add a little sugar? It's already very well carbonated ( I had a wee, sneaky taste yesterday.) Its OG was 1.054 and FG 1.009. So it's about 5.9% and very promising. I have a St Peter's IPA in FV so some of that will go into bottles but most into a PB for me to drink!

Hi Martin, try one bottle straight from the PB and see what happens, I had a brew(bottled) that was overcarbed and released the pressure by opening then closing the cap, within a day it had carbed back up again so maybe putting it into a bottle may be ok, if so do the others you need after.

When bottling from PB to bottle you will benefit from having a bottling tube attached to PB tap that reaches the bottom of the bottle so that your carbonation didn't fizz up too much in the bottlle. Also, add a 1/4 to 1/3 teaspoon of sugar and immediately put a cap on. Keep the bottle at 20°C for a week or two.

I did as suggested and used a tube into the bottom of the bottles. I added one carbonation drop. This was three days after the beer was kegged. I let the foam expel any air and only filled to the bottom of the shoulder. for safety, I put four bottles in an FV with the lid on. today I see no bubbles but at least one bottle has 'vented' through the swingtop but not dislodged the washer. The beer looks very clear so maybe there is no yeast in suspension?
