Got a question, if i finish a brew then keg and gas it. Ive tried to pour from the keg into bottles but the dont hold their fizz. Ive seen beer guns being advertised , as an idea to solve this. From my understanding you connect the gun to the keg and the co2 source ,purge the bottle with co2 then apply the beer. Done. Any one got one or had experiance with one?

Any other suggestions how to take fizzy beer from a keg in bottles?

Can't you bottle some at the same time you transfer from FV to keg? I'm going to try what you are asking about and will add half a teaspoon of sugar to a 500ml bottle. I will use a 'Little Bottler' or similar to fill the bottle from the bottom.

I've not tried it myself but had read that you can bottle using a long length of beer line (to reduce foaming), into a picnic tap pushed into another length of beer line that's just long enough to reach the bottom of the bottle, which has been cut at an angle to make sure the beer can flow. Chill everything, including bottles, as low as you can; purge the CO2 from the keg and then use a low pressure to transfer. I'm planning on giving it a go soon.

I have used one of these with fairly good results:

Probably available cheaper on eBay etc.

You attach some beer line to the length of your bottle with the bottom cut at 45 degrees (to allow beer to flow out). Screw it onto the bottle then attach the QD to the liquid out post on the keg. As the pressure builds up in the bottle loosen the lid slightly to allow gas out and more liquid in until it's full. Then unscrew and cap off the beer. Repeat.

Quite time consuming and a little bit messy but serves it's purpose if you want to bottle the odd beer for friends and family from your keg.
