Because it's the internet, which has no place for empathy.

I think the production side of the videos is pretty slick and lends an air of legitimacy and authority to the channel. I would suggest some Batman (TV show) or Home Improvement (Tim the Toolman Taylor) style cuts between scenes though.

Haha yes that is very true. Over the years I have seen some really weird comments.
Some highlights include :-
"I really loved this videos information but disliked the video because I dislike the English in general and hate the way they sound."
"This video was a waste of time for me, I hate beer so why would I brew it?"
"Why are you just using a Grainfather for brewing? There are other systems you know. It feels like you are bias."

Good to hear that you like the production side of my videos. I try my best but I am learning this as I go. I like the idea of the cuts you mention, I will look into how I can do this and what form they could take. Thanks for your input :)

I would hope so! I will look at chopping the intro down, Drunkula is not the first to mention it. Having said that much more people say they love it compared to any other view point.
I am unsure why a mere intro would upset people though.

It's branding, and you can always Fast Forward that bit if it offends you!

Haha, dont worry....I am preparing a file with everything in it for those that want it including my diet and inside leg measurement. Man it is so hard to cover some peoples demands!
I can confirm that I do not drink Fosters at this point but I cannot be held responsible for drinking it during my next trip to Oz if it is all they have at a BBQ. Actually scrub that, I would rather drink water, at least it can have some flavour to it :)
Not even the Australians drink Fosters I believe.

That song is a right *earworm every time I read this thread it goes round and round in my head for the next half hour. :laugh8:

*For those not familiar with the term -
An earworm, sometimes known as a brainworm, sticky music, stuck song syndrome, or Involuntary Musical Imagery (IMI) is a catchy piece of music that continually repeats through a person's mind after it is no longer playing.

Well, without wanting to turn this into the David Heath's YouTube Channel Feedback thread (I just have done haven't I?), I have no issue with the music and it can easily be skipped. What I would really love to see, however, is the finished beer and a bit of feedback and evaluation for each of the brew recipe videos. I know this would initially cause quite a delay between when the beer is brewed and when the video goes live, but I think it would really add to the usefulness and entertainment of the vids. Sorry to derail - happy to move it to a different thread if required.

I don't see a problem as may YT videos have part one and two etc so the original could go live when finished then the followup later after tasting.

Haha, well that could well change for you soon. I did some digging around on YT intros and yup it would seem mine is too long. I also feel it is time for a redesign of it anyway. Ive had the same one for years!
Today I have spent some hours and have put together various different ones that are all 5 seconds long with no music. I think it will be fun to vary the intro from time to time also.
My next video will go live on Wednesday, so you can see one of these soon.

Haha well yes you have but frankly I really appreciate it :) It certainly is more useful than how this thread started at least :)
I used to make beer tasting videos up until last year. I really don't like the idea of me rating my own beer , so I used to get some of the local beer judges to come over and score them on mass.
It took a lot of organising and time and to be honest the videos never got that many views. Here is the playlist:-

Since then I have moved house and do not know the same types people in this area but I am working on it :)
I am just unsure if it is something people want.

These days my recipe videos are more geared towards teaching people how to write their own recipes to style.
What I do now is describe the effects and tastes you will get from the recipe I share as an example of the style.
I am never sharing recipes that are not tried and tested, so I can give tasting notes in advance.
Is this not enough?

Yeah I could do a single tasting video as a follow up...though to get it rated by judges really demands the on mass approach.

Personally, I just like seeing the finished product and a few comments on how it turned out, what went well, what might be changed etc. It just seems to wrap everything up nicely. I wouldn't worry about getting judges in to do it though - I think we're all our best critics as a rule. It's just a suggestion, I still enjoy the vast majority of your videos.

I will cut to the chase here. In my opinion David you give good info to people thinking of and doing brewing as a hobby, that is a great thing. The same goes for the person calling you out whose videos I have also watched. I don’t care what system you use, I started with a homemade hybrid system, use a Grainfather now but expect to be using a professional setup in the future but in the meantime I will listen to advice on that until I level up. This is a great hobby and we should all enjoy it without animosity. Let’s drink to that!
