Our first Grandchild is due to make an appearance at the end of July. Looking for recipes and ideas for the baby's head wetting party, with something that will appeal to a wide range of folks. Any input appreciated. Cheers

Congratulations.

I've never met anyone who doesn't like Brass Castles Bad Kitty, it's a Chocolate Vanilla Porter. smooth and easy drinking, beery enough for Ale drinkers and the chocolate, vanilla flavours will appeal or be familiar to those that aren't.

There's the recipe for it in this thread. Both AG and a extract conversion.

Brew your favourite couple of brews for yourself get a crate of Carlsburp and a box of Boddingtons for the rest...sit back and thoroughly enjoy yourself!
Or...do a British style lightly hopped pale and a turbo cider with supermarket apple juice..

That is a huge amount of vanilla they're using! I take it you've brewed this? The thread was debating the timing of the vanilla, what have you done with it?

For the OP, kolsch sounds like a good compromise, or a lower abv pale ale with English hops? I like EKG and Saaz in mine, pretty easy going but still got flavour to it.

@Zephyr259 No, not brewed it. I use pods in the FV if I use vanilla. I guess it needs alot of extract to come through gassing off at the end of boil and through fermentation.

Yeah, seems odd times to add it. My only use of vanilla was 2 tsp of extract in 15L into the bottling bucket. Faded after a couple of months though.
