Not clear from that picture but shank is used quite a lot for taps and imperial gubbins.

Do you mean the adapter that connects the tap to the disconnect, like https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/tap-shank-adapter/ ?

No, it's kind of like this:

https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/quickconnectors-1-2-barb/

The bit that slides into the nut, protrudes out the end but has threads on the inside (for a disconnect to screw into) instead of barbs for a hose to be pushed onto.

I have a flow control tap that I want to place directly on the keg liquid-out post. ATM I have one of these tail barbs coming out of the shank but it would need to be some seriously strong tubing that would hold everything upright.

Although @SteveH I see that what you recommend might work just fine.
Cheers

Yeah I may be misunderstanding what you're trying to do, but FWIW I've got one of those tap shank adapters from the malt miller, I use it to connect an intertap flow-control tap directly to a threaded liquid out disconnect on a 2.5g corny. Works fine provided I keep the pressure low and the flow control near minimum to reduce foaming.

Doh! What kind of tap is it?

Mine is an intertap one and it does have flow control, the adapter fits directly onto the the tap with no shank fitted.

It's the flow control tap from Dark Farm. I seen on the MM site that their adapter was compatible with flow control. Guess they are talking about a different type of flow control tap.

Here's a guess.
Those stainless bound flex hose couplings used by plumbers to connect vanity taps to wall inlets, toilet cisterns to wall inlet, etc. Guess you have them over there?
If you cut the end off one of those, leave a tail about 30mm, carefully unpick the stainless winding and crimp (use sidecutters for that bit), discard the short inner hose remaining, voila!?
I use them a lot. Really quick and easy.
