Hey all, I have a quick question, I've been brewing lots of pale ales and a Kolsch, I've noticed over time that they all seem to darken from straw to a similar shade of light brown; could this be oxidisation?
The taste still seems the same.

If so I can only think oxidisation could occur at bottling (i use Coopers PET bottles and glass with caps) do you think that blasting the bottling bucket with some CO2 might help?

Thanks for your thoughts
Steve

Do you find there's a difference between the PET and the glass bottles? PET is gas permeable.

Purging the bottling bucket and bottles with co2 will help.

That's a good point, I'll have a check of a glass one later thanks

I'd have though that by the time you purge the bottle, put it to one side then fill it the CO2 would have diffused out, and air in.
There's enough dissolved CO2 in the fermented beer to foam and so fill the bottle with CO2 while it's being filled with beer.
