But I use it after VWP as a cleaner and a rinse in tap water.
I don't see the benefit of the star san which I believe is more of an imported product.

The benefit of it is, that it's a low pH acid sanitiser that prevents water spotting, the residual mineral deposits left as a liquid air dries. These mineral deposits have the potential to be a home for bacteria.

How does the low pH reduce the precipitation of dissolved salts on the vessel wall as it dries.When the water evaporates completely the dissolved salt will remain. What is the acid used to reduce the pH? Water spotting will be eliminated by surfactants that make the water spread on the surface or drain off more readily. What is the surfactant used?
Today, I will mainly be using Paracetic acid (Brewlab C2) it stinks!

I would think phosphoric acid may be in there as that is considered food safe (it's in Coke) and "pH down" solutions, and the byproducts are phosphates - which are used as a yeast nutrient anyway. It could be the surfactant that is the problem, but is sold as rinse aid for dishwashers without a problem?
Adding a few drops of rinse aid to a 50% solution of phosphoric acid should produce something useful.

This is also a mucosal irritant, do not inhale, use in a very well ventilated area, the vapours alone will make your eyes stream.
Do not sniff the cornie just to check whether it has paracetic in. Use the bloody PH meter! (eyes watering,,,,,
)

Just had reply from Malt Miller...they deal direct with Five star in the US and have no problem with the product or its supply. They seem to indicate it's a distributor issue not a product issue.
Great. I'm just about to invest in a jumbo size bottle from MM.
