First post guys - (be gentle )

After owning a Klarstein Maischfest Boiler Mash Kettle now for over 2 months, we've decided to replace the original 1/2" tap with a wider 1" neck tap on Amazon.co.uk - THIS.

You see, we use the Mash Kettle to make BBQ style sauces too (I know, I know). And with some of the sauces being thick, we need something that is able to let the sauce get out and not jam in the narrow 1/2" tap neck that comes fitted.

So I need your advice on getting the right fitting to make this new tap work.

I've scanned various posts and wondered if the fitting in the image below is what I need? I have no language for such fitting/s so I need help with itemising needed components, and links/pointers to any stores who may stock. And fitting/sealing it correctly. THANKS!

I have thought about doing this and the issue you need to resolve is the double skin of the kettle. If you take the base off you will be able to see up between the two skins and see the issue.

Klarstein have pressed the two skins together before using something like the above fitting and your issue will be how to seal this gap.

You could drill the correct size hole and hope that when you tighten the fitting it pulls the two skins together but I think this is a bit of a risk. A better solution I believe would be to find, or fashion, a washer which matches the gap size between the two skins and the diameter of the new fitting. When you have cut the correct size hole this can be slipped over the fitting as it is positioned into the hole and will sit between the two skins allowing you to clamp down on it when you tighten the fitting.

The washer/spacer is also likely to need bending slightly to match the curve of the kettle. All a bit fiddly but achievable. I will be interested if anyone comes up with an easier solution as I would like also to fit a bigger tap.
