Suggestions for British hops for dry hopping?

I've nearly got my house English IPA cracked. The hop schedule is Challenger (bittering), Fuggles & EKG flavour, and a EKG dry hop. I feel it could carry another hop in the dry hopping stage, something fruity, but I don't want to go down the US / New World route, and would like to keep it British. Any left field suggestions?

I have got some Pilgrim in the freezer, and hope that I can use them for a variety of uses, from what I can make out they are similar to an English hop with more of a fruity character ??? (so IPA is a possibility ).

Has anyone got any direct knowledge on use ? They might be on the right lines for you......

Interesting suggestion; I appreciate its a UK hop, but thought it might be a bit too New worldy to work with EKG reading the hop list description, but then found a thread in here suggesting it's not like that at all. So that's one I'll try.

WGV? I always thought they were similar to EKG, but have pleasant fruity characteristics; rather than earthy as in EKG.

First Gold would be my choice. Others above have mention Bramling Cross and WGV. Both excellent hops. I suppose you don't want to consider Savinjski Goldings? Theyre good enough for Tim Taylor!

I've not used them, alhough have had a few beers made with Olicana hops. They have the characteristics of new world hops.

Agree with the above posts, in that Bramling Cross and First Gold are both great.

Thanks folks. Looks like I'll give first gold and jester a spin. I use bramling X already in my house stout, so might give them a spin as well.

For fruity I'd suggest Bramling X. Lovely dark fruits/berry flavour.

Does first gold compliment bramling cross? Im about to order bc but want anouther hop for a bit of depth

I haven't used them together but I font see why not? Don't use too much Bramling in anything though or it goes a bit Stongbow dark fruits cidery in my experience.

Nothing wrong with Challenger in the dry hop schedule.

You often read ******** flavour profiles and don't notice any of it, but this one does exactly what it says on the tin. I just checked my notes and 30g for 5mins is enough for it to shine through without being too fruity. I did a Bramling X SMaSH before and was awful, I always have a good sniff when I open the lid before bottling and I thought it was off, didn't even smell like beer.

I know Fuggles is a favourite with some but I really have gone off them as I get too much of a earthy taste with them and prefer to use EKG with Northdown, First gold, Challenger and Nugget. I know that most people would not use Challenger and Nugget as aroma but I have found them very good when use in conjunction with other british hops, Ps I do not use out and out bittering hops in my boil but use them as late additions so I can add more hops at the end and get my bittering from that method
