I remember emailing Rogue a while back, asking for some advice about an adjunct. Cnut's never got back to me. Hasn't put me off drinking their beer, mind. Doubt I could say the same had it been a brewery of lower standing.

Yes but unlike most breweries they seem to churn them out by the dozen on a daily basis!
Them and many others, variety is the spice of life!

The daft thing is I'm sure any master brewer worth his salt could taste any beer and tell you what hops were in it and which malts would give you the same flavours. So much for commercial secrets.
I think we both know there's a bit more to it than that

I bought 'The home brewer's recipe database' https://www.amazon.co.uk/Home-Brewers-Recipe-Database/dp/1409292258
there is also a 2016 third edition in the US.
I google searched 'Durham Magus' and it came up as part of the book.
It's nice when you can buy a bottle of beer based on the database, then see if you can taste the different listed ingredients.
I think it is Brilliant, but I need to get out more,,,,:p

Glad you liked it! I am thinking of popping into their tap room this weekend, if I do I'll try the stout and post a review. Also have my on their Magic Missile Pale Ale, as I have all of the hops used on hand.

Did you make it to the brewpub? I'm only after making a batch of it. The sarsaparilla smell was amazing.

I hope more of the UK (and others) share recipes. Its not like a few HB'ers pose any commercial threat to them. And as we all know, you can never clone someone else's beers exactly anyway.

Sadly, no. I made it to several taprooms over the weekend (holiday weekend with friends in town), but we didn't make it there. Hope the brew turns out well for you, and will try to get to their brewery for some reviews soon.

I contacted Burnt Mill via facebook and asked about advice on one of their IPA recipes, politely and not asking for secrets, and they were very helpful and generous with thier information. I know Cloudwater published a brew on the Grainfather recipe pages for a DIPA (v.10 maybe) but I've not been on the app since the update.
