I’m currently using both my fermentation fridges which means I have both of my Inkbirds in action.

The one on my current brew is the one that I use to monitor my mash temp. I plugged it in with the temperature of my beer at 20C. It’s a Kolsch so I set the temperature to 15.5C but the cooling light isn’t coming on and the fridge isn’t switching on. The cooling differential is at the minimum so I’m not sure what the problem is. Any ideas?

I’ve plugged the fridge in separately to get the temp down and will stick the Inkbird in when it gets down to temp.

Did you leave it at least 10 minutes? The Inkbird could be in its safety time delay period where it will not switch the fridge compressor on in case it might have just been shut off.

I didn’t know there was a 10 minute delay. As great as the units are, the instructions are rubbish. I’ve still got the unit on so when I go back to the garage I’ll see if the cooling light is on.

Yeah temp probe is taped to the side of the FV. Even if it wasn’t it’s reading above where the cooling should kick in anyway.
 
Definitely not cooling, it’s sitting at 22C rather than the 15C I was hoping to ferment at. At least it’s still in the temperature range for the yeast, and I’ve used 2 sachets so it should still say fairly lagery.

I have a 3rd Inkbird (one of the ones with the interchangeable probes) with a dodgy probe so I’ll maybe order a new probe before my next brew and keep the dodgy one for tracking mash temps only.

Thanks. As I said I have 3, and one will be used for monitoring my mash temp only so I’m not overly bothered but if it’s an easy fix then even better.

New probe came today - plugged it into the old faulty one (which is no longer faulty), and took the one for checking mash temps away and all is working as it should.

Hopefully my Kolsch will turn out ok.
