...but is there anything that I need to look out for?
I'm new to all forms of brewing and have started out using kits. I bought a BelVino red wine kit, and all was going well - until I was at the stage to add yeast and nutrient. I accidentally added the stabilizer packet (containing K-sorbate and Na-sulfite) as well as my yeast and nutrient and without realising my mistake stirred in.
However, got a yeast starter on the go with a pint of apple juice, wine yeast sachet, 2 tsp sugar and a half tsp of nutrient and left it over night. There was plenty of yeast starter activity in the morning and I added it to the must.
Noticed activity within an hour, but the sulphur smell was highly concentrated, so added 5 tsps of nutrient to the mix (I'm brewing 5 gallons).
This stopped the airlock activity straight away, but around 8 hours later, it went mad, no sulphur smell anymore and i replaced the airlock with a clean cloth covering the airlock hole and taped it down.
OG was 1.076, this morning 1.046
Been going vigorously for 24 hours now, but....
Did the stabilizer packet kill or nullify the nutrient I add originally added?
Will the taste be damaged any way by this kind of revived yeast activity?
