I'm going to be adding a bottle of Brandy to a Christmas Wine before bottling and I'm curious before I do it... How will I calculate the ABV?

The same goes for an Impy Stout that I want to make, but want to add a bottle of Cognac directly to the 2nd fermentation prior to bottling.

With ABV being calculated between (SG - FG) x 131.25. What will adding the spirits do to the FG?

Just take a weighted average of the ABV like so:

(volume of wine x abv of wine) + (volume of the brandy x abv of brandy) / total volume

Eg. If you have 20L of 12% wine and you add 1L of 40% brandy then the calculation is:

(20*12)+(1*40)/21 = 13.33%

Did not realise it would be that simple. Thank you @strange-steve
