Hello all..
Early May I brewed a kolsch...
4kg best maltz pilsner
1kg weyerman Munich
35g halletau hersbrucker @ 60
30g @ 10
CML kolsch

I'm trying a few samples and I like it..it's not a style I usually drink or buy...it is nicely carbed, clear and has a nice subtle malt and floral taste ..
Am I in the right place with it....what should it be like?

What's your batch size?

I made one at the beginning of the year and it was delicious. I had a few more hops in total though and a little less grain this was for a 20l batch.

Vitals
Original Gravity: 1.050

Final Gravity: 1.009

IBU (Tinseth): 28

Color: 6.1 EBC

Malts (4.5 kg)
4.5 kg (100%) — Dingemans Pilsen — Grain — 3.2 EBC

Hops (100 g)
40 g (22 IBU) — Hallertauer Mittelfrueh 4% — First Wort

20 g (5 IBU) — Hallertauer Mittelfrueh 4% — Boil — 15 min

40 g (1 IBU) — Hallertauer Mittelfrueh 4% — Boil — 1 min

Yeah your on the money there with that. And the CML Kolsch dry yeast is actually really quite good as it goes.

I tend to do a few Kolsch beers as i like the fact that you can essentially make a lager/pils relatively easily with out the extended lagering.

I tend to go more like uDicko on the grain bill with not so much Munich as you want a kolsch to be quite light and not to grainy. Also (IMHO) you want the IBU's to be sub 25's as above that you start having to get the FG/IBU ratio more correct because the beers so light it can be "overly bitter" really easily.

I might chuck my latest Kolsch into the freestyle comp this month.
 
Sounds really nice. I’ve only made one once and I remember it being quite sulphury. After some conditioning it went and tasted as you described.

I’ll throw Hallertau Tradition into the mix. It’s got slightly higher AAs than its peers so you can use less for bittering if not using a designated bittering hop
