As beer is mostly water i would imagine that the quality of the water used is very important.
As a newbie i am thinking of using bottled water to make my first batch on home brew.
As tap water can contain chlorine and other stuff would using bottled water give a better tasting beer.

Hi lancon

You'll have more than enough to think about on your first AG brewday ... unless you have any reason NOT to use the water coming out of your tap (e.g. if it doesn't taste good when you drink it straight from the tap), then I'd suggest you'd be better off learning to brew well first ... while water treatment can help make (even) better beer you're almost certain to be able to make good beer without worrying about it just yet :?:

Enjoy your brewday wink...
