We need a 4th option - I usually do something different but have a small number of favourite recipes I will remake/tweak occasionally.

Actually i misread you post. I seem to be moving toward just one or two recipes, that I can tweak repeatedly If I want something slightly different. (Although your "4th option" is still a good un).

So far I've something new every month. But I now know what I want to focus on, so will be getting repetitive as of next month. I may still brew the occasional IPA for some session beers though.

Usually a different beer each time. There are a few that I have made twice because they've been so good, e.g. Founders Breakfast Stout. I tend to stick to stouts and IPA's though. I've tried making a few pale ales but they never seem to turn out as nice.

What an excellent topic! For my part, though I've not been brewing very long, I like to experiment. So I've had a go at all sorts, even an open ferment bitter which turned out really excellent, by the way, and fermented like a flipping volcano. But I have a standard brown ale at about 7% ABV, I have a bitter that I brew often enough, and as for the rest; heck I'm doing a parti gyle this weekend comprising a strong English ale - yet to be designed - from 4.5 litres of first runnings (not sparged) and after that the mash will be added to with a load of steeped black stuff (brown malt, chocolate, and patent) and run out to the end of sparge and normalized at about 1.030 for a dark mild - with Fuggles, of course. I have no idea beforehand what either will be like and trust my senses of what should work.

Wasn't sure which way to vote as have mainly brewed something different in the past but repeated a few beers that I particularly like, I'm aiming to come up with a shortlist of beers I really like to brew repeatedly then chuck in the odd experimental brew now and again.

Cant say I qualify to vote on this as I only do kits at the moment, but that will change next week when I order a klarstein all in one, I thought about biab route but don't fancy brewing indoors so I thought go for it its a great hobby in retirment

I like to create different recipes every time I brew. I regularly brew a pale ale (American Pale or Indian Pale) and a dark (stout or porter) but will always tweak the grains, hops and/or adjuncts. Every year I do a Chili Stout for the festive period and every year it is different! I do try to do at least 2 experimental beers (for me) each year - this year it's a Gose, just gone in to the barrel and tasting nicely salty sour! I treat my brewing like cooking - I like something different every night.

Core beers are Dry Stout, Brown Porter, Old Ale, Pale Ale(s) and Belgians (inc Saison) in the summer.

Tried lots of other stuff, but simplistic pale ales are the most brewed.
