I'm trying to connect my new SS Brewtech Brite Tank (10 gallon size) to a CO2 cylinder. What I thought would be a simple affair is anything but.

The CO2 regulator I have came with a John Guest 3/8 connector:
https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/premium-co2-regulator/

I'm using this line into the regulator:
https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/38-natural-beergas-line/

However I can't get this line to fit onto the 3/8 barb on the brite tank (won't stretch enough and enough when bending a little first at the end I still can't get it to go onto the barb).

So I then tried using 6.5mm ID silicon. This fits perfectly onto the barb:
https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/platinum-cured-silicone-tube-6-5mm-id/

However this then doesn't go into the John Guest 3/8 connector. I also can't find a splicer that would seem to fit the two together, and then I'm also not sure what the silicon tubing is rated to pressure wise.

Has anyone managed to work out a way of fitting these together?

Don't use silicone as a gas hose, it's too flexible and won't make a good seal at the JG connector. It might even leak through the permeable silicone itself under pressure.

If the barb that won't fit the MDPE hose is really close to fitting, boil some water and dip the hose in it. That'll soften it and might help it slip over the barb. Secure it with a jubilee clip.

So why dont you change the barb connector on the tank for JG 3/8 push fit? I assume as i dont know what this connection looks like on your tank, but you can unwind the barb and replace it with something else, or is it a welded barb?

Pictures would enable people to assist if they can.

Its this I believe looking on the brewtech site:
https://www.ssbrewtech.com/products/carb-stone-replacements?variant=1797611749394

Its welded together so no chance of disassembling and putting a different barb on it. I'm looking at changing the JG connector on the regulator to a similar barb, but then I have to find a tube that fits and is usable for carbonation without blowing up / signficant leakage.

Right so this is a standard hose barb on a ball valve for your carb stone. You are right you should just change the connection on your regulator to a hose barb and then get some 3/8" hose and then just push the hose on. Should be fine for all your needs for carbonating.

One tip is also to get a one way valve and stick that in line and close the BT. You will want this in case beer comes down through the carb stone, through the valve and into your regulator and on the floor. You will lose beer and wreck your regulator without it,

You can get hose barb reducers cheaply on Ebay if you know the two sizes you need.

Seems to work. No obvious leaks and pressurised to 15 psi to check for leaky connection .

Under 15 psi, opened the ball valve to check (and let the one way valve stop it flowing out). No signs of any starsan bubble .

Hi, I've just got my handson the same brite tank, however, the JG connector doesn't work, it pops off all the time. Are you still using this method? I had the same with the cooling coil. It worked at first, but when it got cold, obviously contracted and popped off. Water everywhere.

Recently got two Ss Brewtech brite tanks and faced the same issue. Although found a great fix for it. The barb actually unscrews from the valve and then you can just screw in a male JG fitting with a 3/8 push fit and just push you gas hose straight into it

Why don't you just buy an appropriate size tri clamp fitting with a corny post, and connect it that way?

Brewtools has one with metric thread on the inside. Check if that's good for you.
