Another beer swap. A friend's lightly hopped pale ale. Only 24g a litreashock1. Big fruit aroma and taste. Loads of grapefruit. Lovely beer.

I'm drinking a can of Magic Rock Inhaler I picked up at Tesco today while getting the ashbeck for Sunday's brew.
I'm really disappointed with this. It starts off with a cheesy aroma that becomes more and more vegetal as it warms. If I brewed this I wouldn't give it to my mates - had to pour it down the drain.
Not the first dodgy MR beer I've had from Tesco recently either. Fingers crossed the Cannonball and Luminance I have in the fridge are better.

Having dispatched a dozen or so unruly 11 year olds from youngest childs birthday celebrations I am exploring the back catalogue. Beers from the back of the shed, an AG Saison that is still too peppery for me a year in and a Youngs oaked rum kit - also not to my taste. Also doing back catalogue vinyl on a cheap turntable though, a welcome addition to tje brewcave.

A cherry concoction that was part of a

split batch a while back. Pilsner malt, saaz hops, kristalweizen yeast and a bottle of lowitz cherry syrup in 4.5l. last bottle, which is a shame because it's pretty good!

I tried one of my Wilko "Feeling Hoppy" triple hopped pale ales that I bottled a couple of weeks ago. Good carbonation and not bad at all. I think it will improve over time...

On holiday with the family in Spain. And while not having access to the wide array of beers I brew or from the local bottle shops I have managed to hunt this out to drink during for the first few days. Could be worse.

You should be able to get decent beer in the shops as spain is slowly catching up with not just having cooking lager available.

I’ve noticed the slow improvement in the last 5 years since I’ve been coming to the same place. Carre fore and dial prix are increasing their range year on year.

With today's brew chilling it's time to sample my last brew, an AIPA which I packaged this morning.
It's not quite as bitter as I feared after missing my OG by 10pts but it's getting there. Still came in at 5.4% so it's got a bit of oomph to balance.

This was the last kit I did before going ag and it really was quite good, especially given the very meagre dry hop

Going through the "failed" experiments to see if, with time, they've improved. The rye lager has turned out to be amazing - I drink it coolish but not chilled, by the way- just like a really nice and crisp summer ale. The same formulation with added oatmeal instead of rye is drinkable and I've paid good money for far worse, but that's about it- and the oats have left an enduring cloudiness which isn't present in the rye. Just about to give the Enterprise Lager (AKA It's beer Jim, but not as we know it) an airing. Hang on.
Holy Haddock, it has ejaculated prematurely all over me.
Apart from the fobbing- and it's not been chilled so a good 25+C. It's beginning to taste ok for an AIPA version of lager.

I’m still in Switzerland. That’s a dunkel and unfiltered lager. They play it safe but brew really good beers.
