hi got a brew on going to barrel it but by the time its brewed them barrelled we are going away so it will be in barrel for at least 2 month before first pint pulled never left it that long will it be ok in my mind the longer I leave it the better it will be

In my experience you can keep beer in a PB for several months. The longest I've ever kept it was probably about six months (a stout) before I finished it off but it was still OK and could have gone on for longer. However if you have a dry hopped beer you might notice that the effect of the dry hop has gone after about 4 months but its still fully drinkable, but then that goes for bottles too, .

Bottles are known to last up to two years if kept in reasonable conditions. Terry is right about kegs, usually about 6 months in a pb. If you take a walk about to your local pubs and see the barrels outside once they are finished with, you will notice the use by date is pretty close to when they are supposed to be finished with - even with nitro infused beer. Which is a good sign as it shows that the pub isn't buying beer that has not matured.

I've managed a year, I'd forgotten about it, by 18months it was showing signs of oxidation.

Ps. About 5l in a 10 litre barrel it was the weak 1/2 of a parti gyle.
