Hi, does anybody know of a vineyard or farm where you can pick your own grapes? I fancy trying out making wine from scratch! I guess I will need enough to make half a dozen bottles of red. Many thanks.

I have never heard of pick your own grapes but if there is any its likely a variety not suited to wine. You could just ring around the vineyards and see what they can do off the top of my head Biddenden and chapel down are both in Kent and i'm sure there are loads more. I would also note British grapes seem to make some great wine and rose wines but there reds are lacking more like dark rose than red just in my limited experience anyway.

Thanks, I am very new to this! I just want to obtain a fair amount of grapes for making wine at home without it costing the earth!

Providing the forum with your approximate location and how far you are prepared to travel would be more than useful, then the answers you receive might be more than useful to you. 'Near Kent' covers a lot of ground.
