Wild beer Dr todd it says it all on the bottle smoky + spicy +ginger + honey + barrels. There's a big hit of Peaty whisky on the nose slightly medicinal, then the flavour is sour, smoke, and spice this is so good and it's 9.7% hic!

I’ve not posted in this thread for a while. It was my birthday last weekend and I got a load of beers I hadn’t had before.

My brother in law and his wife got me some Haacht Super 8 Beers. I’ve had 2 out of the 3. The Wit/Blanche was a bit bland - not as tarty (ooh-er) as the better witbiers I’ve had. The lager was nice, it had a touch of what I would refer to as a “Belgian taste”. I still have the IPA to try

My wife got me a selection of beers from my local microbrewery (71 Brewing in Dundee as if I haven’t given them enough of a plug recently). I’d had everything before apart from the Pale & Significant table beer which I’d always thought would be a bit bland. It had a lovely hoppy aroma (I want to say I could smell Simcoe) and went Dow really nicely albeit it was a little thin.

My parents got me a box set of 6 collaborative beers between Scottish and Scandinavian breweries. I was quite excited about this but the beers have been hit and miss. The Loganberry IPA was a bit heavy on the Loganberries for my palette, and the double IPA was nice but a bit bland (tasted a bit like my Belma SMaSH but with different hops). The black sour was surprisingly nice, I’m not usually a fan of dark beers but the souring and almost complete lack of bitterness seemed to work very well and it was pretty easy drinking. My favourite so far was the “DryPA”, which I had assumed would be a Brut IPA without reading the can but was actually a hoppy Saison. I have 2 left, one is a spruce IPA and I can’t remember what the other one is.

My first attempt at a lager. The Mexican Cerveza from The Bible. Cocked up the mash and so added some Agave syrup to meet my SG. Turned out really nice. I had a Kolsch afterwards and the difference in crispness between the 2 was like night and day!

Having dispatched a dozen or so unruly 11 year olds from youngest childs birthday celebrations I am exploring the back catalogue. Beers from the back of the shed, an AG Saison that is still too peppery for me a year in and a Youngs oaked rum kit - also not to my taste. Also doing back catalogue vinyl on a cheap turntable though, a welcome addition to tje brewcave.View attachment 19846 View attachment 19847

WOW - I did my vinyl to digital to I-thingy, a few years ago and found, to my immediate horror, that the best thing about my collection from the 1970-80's was actually the Moody Blues, who just about scraped into the 1970's.

Sad that, in a lot of ways - like so much of the stuff then was really pretentious ****. Also Punk Rock = Clash, Pistols, rubbish...

Back on topic, for once, I got back from a tediously long winded family day out to finally enjoy a blended Rakua and Euro Hop IPA. The Euro Hop is a Huell Melon and Hallertau Blanc beer I have made so often, it may be the "house" pale ale.

Another night on the flat dark mild for me, so I'm back in the imaginary Bricklayers Arms. This is what it looked like, btw. It's just a house now, mostly obscured by extensions.

Still finishing this barrel, needs to be gone tonight as I want to package a beer in it tomorrow!

Tonight I am drinking a Brew By Numbers saison with gin botanicals and it’s bloody lovely. Beer and gin are two of my favourite things so combing the two is a winner!

I am Romulus and I am Remus. I got these cheap from my local cos they are at bbe. But they are both still as good as when I got them fresh I can't tell the difference.
