So I last used my Bulldog Brewer about 3 months ago so today I thought I would crack on and use up some of my grains and hops so I get everything ready got the Brewer in position with 15l of water in and no display on the control panel. arrgh.

The control panel seems to work as it registers a beep when I press a button but I have no way to see the settings?

Just wondered if anyone had heard of this happening before?

Currently without an income so very reluctant to stump up £550 for the Master Brewer but may have to work out options if no way to fix this.

thanks

Just got their email address so am going to contact them.

In the meantime, I will convert my recipe to LME and get that going as I have 4.5kg of Mangrove Jacks LME that needs using to so will have to go back to the stove method for that.

Looks similar price, maybe a touch cheaper, than BrewkegTap but packages are slightly different. Regardless of which supplier it looks good. Hopefully, Bulldog will come back shortly and I will know where I am. The shipments of Robobrew are not due in for another month so can wait a week or so I guess.

Thanks for that.

Looks nice too. Problem with Malt Miller is if I buy from there I will end up with a whole lot more than the machine in my Basket. lol

Only £6 postage from Malt Miller too - that is good.

So I found a supplier on eBay called hifi-tower who is from Berlin and sells brewing machines at quite a discount. They have a One Concept machine which is similar to the Bulldog Brewer V1 in terms of the control panel and pump for £220 and they have a Klarstein 5 piece kit for less than £200. (no pump on that one though). (free p&P and returns)

So I was considering these and as I was due to visit the LHBS yesterday, on a whim, I decided to plug in the Bulldog Brewer and lo and behold the display came on. So I will see if I can get a batch out of it later this week but if it is going to get temperamental on me I may have to get a new machine. I am half inclined to get a Kettle for my sparge water rather than boil on the stove but that is something for another day.

By the way, I did email Bulldog Brewer on Tuesday and haven't received a reply yet so looks like their customer service sucks which pretty much has made up my mind that I will not buy one of their machines when the current one is replaced.

thanks

Have you tried the telephone? It seems to be a very old fashioned but still effective way of contacting people. I have spoke to them twice with no issues.

Well, if I have more problems then may have to ring them but if they publish an email address on their site then I would expect them to reply even if it's just to say that the 1 guy who can respond is on summer holiday ;)

To be fair to Bulldog they have come back today and if required a new display unit would only be about £15 + p&p. Will try the machine properly this week and hopefully it all goes well so it won't be required but good to know the price if I do need one.
