My take on it is no grape juice = alcopop & grape juice = wine, i have always made my wine with at least one litre of grape juice i believe members have had great results using other juices with no grape juice, the beauty of this wine is its so cheap and quick to make its worth experimenting.

I have made blackcurrant cordial this year because my OH drinks a lot of it, but after straining all the lovely juice off - I was left with a bag of skins and seeds which I have frozen so far.
Would I be ok adding this to a Welch's RGJ WOW, and would it improve it or just be a waste of time? There is plenty of colour in them, and maybe some tannin too.

I have bottled the first Pineapple & Apple WOW, and was a bit disappointed with it being cloudy, and how strong the pineapple was. Where did I go wrong with it or is everyone's like that?

@Richie_asg1 mine doesnt taste of pineapple at all, unless its just me cant taste it. I made a 10ltr batch and used 3 ltr apple and 2 ltr pineapple(tesco juice). After primary I was worried it tasted strongly of apple, almost cider like but that taste mellowed out. I used wilko express wine yeast compound and it cleared nicely with kwik clear finings but I didnt use any stabilizer or campden tablet. abv approx 10%(used less sugar).where did you get your juice ,maybe different juice leaves a bigger pineapple taste than others?

I think I used CoOp fresh pineapple juice, but is one of the things I didn't record - what make the juice is!
It's in bottles now so will see what happens to it with time. Not one of my best I don't think. asad.
I will have another go and reduce the % of pineapple, but I would think having some WGJ or just white seedless grapes in there would help.

I will also buy some kwik clear as it will be more foolproof than the bentonite I used, and I learned I didn't use that correctly.

I did find another 3 DJ's at the car boot yesterday for £2 each so my collection is growing. athumb..

Hi. Think I missed the thread is this how to make alco pops

Made my first WOW on Saturday and it was fermenting 5 minutes after I added the yeast (a packet of sparkling yeast I've had for 5 years). The airlock has been going mental ever since. Yet there is no krausen. There was a tiny amount when it first started but it vanished and hasn't returned. All you can see now is the WOW fizzing like mad and the airlock constantly bubbling. Is this normal?

Perfectly normal :thumba:

So the idea is to use any concentrate or mixtures.

I always use a litre of grape juice in all my wines its just my preference there is no right or wrong with this wine pick some juice and give it a go. :thumba:

Started my first two WOW today. One is pomegranate , the other is apple and errrmmm....beetroot.

Both using Welch purple grape juice.

Will update as and when.

I noticed Morrison's were selling this Purple Grape Juice at £2 today, so looked into it a bit further.
"Concord grapes are a grape variety developed in the Eastern United States during the 19th century. The grapes have a number of uses, and often appear in jams, jellies, grape juice, and sweets. Some companies also make wines from these grapes, although the wines tend to have a slightly dark, musty flavor which some consumers dislike." https://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-concord-grapes.htm

Good luck, will be interested to know how it goes...

Made my first wine at weekend.
5l Demijohn
1 x Sainsburys Red Grape Juice (1l)
2 x Tropicana Mixed Berry Juice (850 ml) https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/302986579
500g Sugar (Mixed with 1l boiling water)
1 cup of strong 2 bag tea
5g Wilko Wine Yeast
1 teaspoon Pectolase

It's bubbling away nicely, so it's doing something.
I had intended to add a teaspoon of lemon juice (but forgot) and there wasn't any yeast nutrient in Wilko when I was in so I had to forgo this (i got a spare yeast incase fermentation seems to stop early).
I don't think either of these are that important to be honest.
I'm going to give it two weeks then transfer it to a secondary demijohn.

Does this sound like it'll come out ok? I've only ever brewed beer before so I'm not sure what to expect. I've got around an inch of krausen-y foam with floaty bits at the top, I'm presuming this is normal, I'm going to strain this out when I transfer it.

This sounds perfectly normal. If ever you're short of yeast nutrient there's other thing you can use such as vitamin tablets, tomato puree or Marmite but you've got a healthy ferment so don't worry.
You can still add the lemon juice if you want perhaps when you transfer.

I used Welch's purple grape juice and apple juice. It still turned out as a rose' but was delicious.

I'm keen to try elderberry juice if I don't find wild berries soon. Anyone tried elderberry and banana wine? I did, forty years ago. It was like a shop-bought red, with body and taste. I do NOT have the recipe!

Has anyone made a WOW Gewurtztraminer?
