Who else has suffered this travesty?

Last weekend I agreed with SWMBO that a significant round of DIY would be undertaken over the following 6 weeks to put right some delapidation of the cushyno household. To my utmost horror today proved to have just about the best evening to get a brew on in the last 3 months, yet the expectation for a certain quota of DIY per day put paid to any hint of a delightful 5 hour brewing session.

Sadly I was stuck up some scaffolding scraping paint off the outside walls!

Anyone else had a perfect brewday scuppered by other expectations?

Only those of us that are married!

As proof of this, I was sat in a pub one day when a single mate of mine said "My round." and stood up to get the drinks.

This was back in the days when employers used to pay people once a week with hard cash in a pay-packet.

John was wearing a jacket at the time and started to fumble around in his top-pocket so I asked him what he was doing. "I'm trying to find an opened pay-packet." he said "I'm sure there's one in here somewhere." After flicking through about five packets he said "Here it is! I knew I had one somewhere in there." and strolled over to the bar.

Why do I remember this little incident from about 50 years ago? Well, I kid you not when I say that I an unopened pay-packet in my house (where I lived with my wife, two kids and the mortgage) lasted less than five minutes from the time I walked through the door!

Happy Days!

I'm just old enough to remember pay packets, the ones with holes in to count your coins before opening.

It's another beautiful day today. Hey, ho, up the ladders I go.

.

Ours also had a staple through the middle allowing you to tear the end of the packet open to count the notes but stopping you removing any and claiming you were short changed.
