Brought a wilko chocmeister stout kit.put a kilo of sugar in for first fermentation.does it need anymore for second fermentation because like an idiot i threw the instructions away

I wouldn't have thought so. Secondary fermentation isn't about adding more sugar. You'll need a it more for priming the bottles, though.

Just let it ferment out.
It depends what temperature you have it at. Although the ferment would probably finish in 5 or 6 days.
Most people would leave it another week. So 14 days in the FV all up.
Then when bottling you'll have to add more sugar or dextrose.

Are Wilko giving up on homebrew. I went to their Newton Abbot store for brewing sugar and they had none or much else either, same in Warrington.

How many carbonation drops in each bottle for stout?also if i just barrel it can i use brown sugar instead and if so how much?im making 23 litres

Hi Leic, if it's a pb I never go higher than 90 grams I have never used brown sugar but can't see why not, carbonation drops are a waste of money I use one sugar cube per 500ml bottle, every body has their own way acheers.
