My 'mobile gas dispenser' for my cornies is almost complete...

full details to follow, but it'll be a new style sodastream bottle attached via an adaptor to a normal CO2 regulator, and then onto the kegs with john guest fittings.

Won the regulator on ebay, got the adaptor from Germany (with the help of online translator software!), and have just ordered the gas disconnects, j/guest fittings and gas line from Norm

All that's left to sort a really sweet system is to sort some chrome party taps.... :hmm:

I look forward to seeing this, it will helpful for any summer we might get :thumb:

I'd be very interested in seeing how this is done if it means that I can transport a corny and tap to various parties!

The adaptor converts the regulator to connect to sodastream instead of standard pub gas bottle.

How much was the adapter? Is it worth going with that over a bottle? I reckon I can get a small-ish bottle for about £20 filled.

adaptor is the expensive bit!! However nowhere around me will fill the smaller bottles, so it's sodastream or full size gas....

The link is in a post above, but you're looking at around 50 euros posted

Wow that's quite pricey for what it is, hard part to get though eh.

I have everything other than the bottle at the moment. Thankfully I have somewhere, reasonably, local that does bottles. I'll be going for the smallest one they have as a pub bottle is far too big for me :D

yeah - it was a bit punchy - 29.50 euros for the adaptor - although it is beautifully made - and then 18 euros postage *gulp*

Good job the Mrs can't see my online credit card statements!!!

Hmmm, at €50 I think I'll have to leave it. Hopefully there will be some enterprising folks in the UK who will make one in the future.

Nice one :thumb:
Do you refil your soda-stream cylinders? - I've been working on an adaptor so I can refill from my main bottle but not welded it up yet.

No - just use the exchange system at the shops - take in your empty cylinder, walk out with new full one - think it's around £4 - £6 for the 'refill' :thumb:

The advantage for me of using the new style cylinders is I can get refills of them locally (Asda, Curries etc) but the old style cylinders are only available through my LHBS, and they've moved premises, and I can't walk to them during my lunchbreak any more... I can get there, but it's a huge hassle and a long lunch, so definately better to be able to move onto the new cylinders :D

I pay only £1.50 more for a pub-gas cylinder refill :thumb:
My main reason for wanting to use the soda-stream cylinders is because I do not like having the pub-gas cylinders in the house - see here.

I keep my big CO2 cylinder out in the shed, so no such concerns for me.

The self refill idea is a neat one, but at 53 euros it's a bit too punchy for me, since I'll hardly ever need to get the soda stream cylinder refilled. Mind you, I'm very jealous of your lathe.. my next house is going to have to be a small factory unit, considering how much time I spend in the garage tinkering with the motorbike, or building brewing gear, or doing woodworking, or fixing bicycles.... Give me a huge workshop, with space for a brewery, and all I need to live in is probably a caravan

Also, do you have link to the page of the sodastream adapter? The other link just goes to the homepage
