As Woodfordes Wherry is a particularly widely available kit and pretty reliable, I am looking at what people do to liven it up a bit. Different Yeasts, Dry Hop? With it being on offer for £15 at the moment it would be rude not to do a bit of experimentation.
 
Where is it £15? If you want more oomph, why not brew it short?

Hi Dave

It takes a dry-hop with East Kent Goldings (EKG) really well, does Wherry, really freshens up the hop aromas/flavours ... brewed to 21 lts, with an extra 250g of Pale DME added (gets the ABV up to just under 5%), and 20g of EKG added into the fermenter around 4 days into the fermentation (once the krausen starts dying down), is a tried and trusted pimp that I like athumb..

I brew it one can at 11L, steep 80g of crystal and 20g of ekg or fuggles. Takes the harsh edge of the wherry.
 
Wilko shops in Newton Abbot and Torquay have not reduced their prices and have virtually no stock. Think I they may be getting out of homebrew.

I put about 500mls of water in a small pan, and warm to about 60C. Put the 80g of crystal in a hop sock/mesh bag and leave it in the pan with the lid on for half an hour.

Add the single can of extract to the FV, pour boiling water into the can to dissolve the extract residue and drop the hops in and stick a bit of cling film on the top, leave for half an hour.

Take the grain out of the pan and boil the contents for 5-10 mins, then add the liquid to the FV, and strain the liquid from the can with the hops into the FV and top it up with cold water as per usual.
