Brewed a black IPA today, but had a little mishap. Looks like I will have something that will come out at 122 IBU..Shoooot! The wort is cooling down over night so I'm scratching my head as to what to do...add it to another wort boil and get two 23ltr batches or go for a ridiculously high IBU brew and see what happens...Any thoughts or advice very much welcome.
 
Largely depends on your own tastes. I like bitter beer so I'd do nothing until I've tasted it. The threshold of most people for detecting IBUs is around 60-70 IIRC. Above that makes no difference and the perception of bitterness this is largely dependent on other factors like residual sweetness, sodium levels and flavour. Although your second wort idea is good if you have the ingredients and time. It's also worth noting that IBUs calculations are largely theoretical.

Mickeller once did a 1000 Ibu beer that was perfectly drinkable.

You could boil some lactose and dump it in the FV. You would have to manipulate your recipe to give you ~120IBU and then add lactose to the recipe until it spits out your estimated IBU target.

Might change the beer entirely, but in an instance like this - beggars can’t be choosers.
 
Well, in for a penny as they say. It's now in the FV..this should be interesting to say the least.
 
Well its been in the barrel for a few weeks now so had another taste last night and I'm really surprised. Yes, @MrRook you were right, that bitterness is fading. So a few more weeks and this should be a very nice Christmas ale.
