I’m cleaning out my kegs and beer line and I’ve noticed that one of the beer lines has this black stuff inside the line and when I was pulling through the water it has deposited this black residue into the glass with the water.

I’ve bought the kegerator and beer lines 2nd hand so it’s from the previous owner.

Does anyone know what it is and the best way to clean it out?

Also if I connected a keg to this would it infect the keg if the line wasn’t properly cleaned out or would I be able to just switch it to a new line if the beer tasted off from it and the keg would fine?

Sorry for the potentially novice questions, this is my first time kegging...

Beer line is nice and cheap, for peace of mind I’d change all the lines

Can't tell from the photos but my guess would be black mould from moisture and air in the pipes. Beer line is cheap, I'd replace the lot.

Cheers guys! I spoke to my friend who’s been brewing for a good few years and he’s said the same thing. I’ll keg my beer tomorrow and just connect the gas line in.

Get some new beer line ordered and replace it ready to pour my first kegged pint next week athumb..:beer1:
