Brexit and grains/hops from Ireland?

I have bought stuff from China for less than £2 (inc. postage) which has a customs declaration sticker attached.

A lot of the cost is in the manpower to process it, which is a lot more expensive in Europe and the UK than in China. It's not scaremongering - the people closest to the action like the Road Haulage Association are really worried about this stuff, and think significant numbers of companes will just give up, whereas the politicians in Westminster seem to think it will all be fine.

I'd assume hops come direct, I'd guess White Labs yeast comes from their place in Copenhagen (apart from maybe the seasonal/Vault stuff?). As has been said, we're exporters of barley, I guess there will be some specialist stuff like Special B that there might be problems with but at least barley/malt can be stockpiled to a certain extent, at least until the next harvest.

If and when it does become a problem my main worry is the supply time more than the actual hike in any prices although this is a consideration. I would like to still patronise the companies who have given me good service in Ireland etc so price is not the main reason I posted this OP but the actual supply chain timescale wise which obviously nobody knows the true answer until it happens but many good replies is making it a little clearer Thanks

Before I got retired by the great recession I worked for a construction supply company. We had one item in particular that a box the size of a six pack weighed 70 pounds and even paying for shipping still cost less than having an American company supply us.

PANIC and Bulk buy,,, FFS, I'm clearing the shelves of RO water and Apple Juice next trip. I already have our property perimeter electrified. Looking for cheap IR photon torpedoes and a smart uniform next.

Yes, I have a shovel and will be digging a bunker, better temp stability for the FV's obviously.

Just practical preparations in case Nicola's Inderef 2 doesn't get rid of you lot!

Iain I love you reasoning. Just used to buy Robobrew, told missus it might be more expensive after Brexit - no clue if it would, but she approved the purchase :)
Maybe need to buy a sack of Pilsner malt with that reason :D
