My Maple Glazed Coconut Macaroon Imperial Stouts been ageing for a while now on Diplomatico Rum Oak.
Not added the maple, coconut etc yet as only want to add them in the final week.
But have a little idea and was wondering if you guys think this may work.
I want to pump up the coconut flavour in this one as entering it into that National Home Brew comp.
After letting it sit on toasted coconut for a week I was thinking of passing it through my HopRocket before going into the keg. But the hop rocket will be filled with freshly toasted coconut.
Do you think this would boost the flavour or a waste of time.

Jut every drop of stout will pass through the coconut, thats my thinking anyhoo.

I found it quite dificult to get a strong coconut flavour in beer when I tried using it, so I can't see that it would do any harm to add an extra coconut rocket hit.
Out of interest what hop rocket have you got? Does it work well (with hops) compared to a standard dry hop?

Its a Blichmann
Not tried it yet, won it in a brewing comp here so thought my idea may work.

Cool. You could potentially get a lot of coconut in one of those badboys - it's gotta impart a decent coconut flavour I'd have thought??

Excellent @Braindead and thank you!

1) Do you use it in addition to late addition/Whirlpool hops or instead of?
2) Do you use it prior to chilling your wort or during?
3) Does it really make a massive difference?

Regards and more thanks

1.No, I only every whirlpool then dry hop if making IPAs. Never used whole hops on pellet or Cryo so the rockets no good for them.
Only good for leaf hops.
2. All I use it for is adjuncts, before kegging Ill fill it with adjuncts such as coconut, cacao, etc then circulate it though then into the keg.
Just for an extra fresh punch of the ingredient.

If ive been ageing a stout on coconut ill do a hop rocket charge before kegging to boost the flavour and yeah it works

Thanks for getting back to me. The main reason I'm considering getting one is for cloning Odell IPA as I know they use whole hops in a hopback. I love Odell IPA *Insert Homer Simpson drooling sound here*.
