It should be legal for any adult to give a teenager a few digs as necessary whilst going about their daily business. If I'm off work I'm too scared to go out at kicking out time; school's kicking out time that is. Pub kicking out time I can deal with without worrying about losing my job.
 
There ARE more restrictions to what a citizen can or cannot do compared to our English cousins.
Just a few examples
(1) Owning an airgun
(2) First with smoking ban.
(3) First with minimum pricing
(4) Smacking ban.
I an not arguing against these mesures simply pointing out we in Scotland have an EXTRA tier of government
Otherwise what are the MSPs doing with themselves each and every day. ?????

That's quite different to what you tried to say in your deliberately disparaging original post. They are involved in all aspects of governing a country minis the reserved aspects.

You refer to them as restrictions, as is your right. Many others would see them as public safety/protection measures.
 
As I stated I am not arguing against these measures.I simply think that as things stand we have an extra layer of government,As at present all the REAL decisions that affect folks lives are taken by Westminster.
Scotland in my opinion should have home rule.
Things/needs are different in Scotland to London and the M25 area.(I have lived in and know both !!)
It seems to me what we have is little more than a hot air factory,Similar to the one proposed (and rejected by the people) by Mr,Prescot for NE England.
We need a real independant government to govern in the interest of Scotland for the Scottish people.Not simply existing to deflect the worst excesses of Westminster.
I suspect DD2 at heart we are not that far apart.

I am really interested in your view on this as I don't know many scottish people. How different is it from say Manchester or Birmingham?

UK politics is definitely London centric but once you are out of that bubble, surely most people in the UK are fairly similar?

Obviously you have similar needs within each region, for example welsh farmers, English farmers and scottish farmers?

Just very curious by this, not having a particular view on whether Scotland was independent or not.

As long as it doesn't affect the cost of essentials like smoked salmon, whisky and Irn Brew, will let you get on with what you want! :D
 
Not smacking , waste of time. Its like owning a Mclaren f1 GTR and not being aloud any fuel for it. Like owning a brewery but being tee total. Like being in a brothel but being a Eunuch. WHATS THE FXXCKING POINT!!! i dont feel i beat by son enough , but we do have a good laugh chasing him round the house and playing the Bumgo Drums when i catch him!
 
Re dexter 101.Actually I have only lived in Scotland since 2004.Prior to that London for 21yrs and before that north east england.It would be more accurate to say i have Scottish ancestors.
I quite agree with your comments regarding salmon and whiskey.(which we need to keep out the cold.)
 
We have as a national entity been let down by our elected politicians.Many go from school to Westminster via the finacial security/subsidy of their middle class parents,Then go on to become activists in the party of choice without ANY understanding of the needs and desires of real people,Or their non existant knowledge of how to do things in a competent manner is is well known.We may have one of the oldest systems of government in the world but is now and has been for a long time ROTTEN to the core.

That statement binds us all together more than it sets us apart. I'm all for Scottish independence, if that's what you want, but all devolution of Scotland, and London, has just created more bloody politicians.

You've currently got a First Minister who lectures about the evils of Brexit, who wanted to leave the UK and the EU, but that doesn't matter as long as she gets to become a world leader.

I've maybe picked up your last point incorrectly, but the SNP are the only party that have consistently campaigned against leaving the EU. Indeed one of the things that has angered many people who voted against Scotland becoming an independent country, was the UK government's insistence that the only way for Scotland to remain within the EU was to vote against independence. Less than two years later, that promise was torn up, along with "The Vow".
 
This was about a smacking ban not brexit and we all know the rule on discussing that.
