This might sound a bit cheap, but where is the best meaning cost versus quality place to buy.

Looking for multiple colours as getting peed off with printing labels and then scrubbing them off again so going bottle top co-ordinated.

My lhbs is pretty competitive for them, most online stores do large batches of caps so something to add in if you're putting in an order.

With out doubt discount homebrew doncaster , i think there around ÃÂ£1.70 for 90 his glass bottles are very cheap too used ÃÂ£11 for 40 new ÃÂ£16 for 40 put the above in the browser to find his website , his names Gary. I use a bottle top system it better than paying extra for labels then the trouble of scrubbing them off, this guy has about 10 types.

Just get any old colour and then write on them with a permanent marker. I just number my bottled brews consecutively and then keep a record of what's what in a spreadsheet, e.g. 1 = Stout 06/16, 2 = Pale Ale 08/16, 3 = Porter 10/16, etc.

I use different bottle shapes. Atm I only have PET bottles and as it takes me a while to get through a 40 bottle batch I only need a couple o batches on the go. I am also starting to save glass bottles as I buy beers so I can add them into rotation. I may also bite the bullet and buy some swing top ones. The only problem is making sure I have is making sure I keep them all clean and ready for use so I have 40 of the type I am using available. I only have one left I'm drinking and as I was doing some in bottles and some in PB I didnt have enough of one type of bottle left. When the PB started leaking and I had to move it to bottles I ended up with one brew in two types of bottles but using that to see how it affects the beer. I might do what could be my last kit today or tomorrow before going AG and only have mixed bottles available.

I tried the different coloured cap system but I started to use this method about a year ago 'cos drinking a lot of my older beer was becoming Mystery Tour.

"Losing" a beer can still happen if I shuffle stuff about and don't mark what it is on the shelf; but it's a thankfully rare event. (Like a few days ago I studied the WW on a cap for ages; but it was only after I opened it did I realise I was looking at it upside down and it was a Marsh Mild!)

Why don't you stick with the same colour caps but buy coloured stickers. Usually get a pack of a couple of hundred stickers in the pound shops.

Also bottles are free from pubs

19mm round stickers with the name and date printed on then, stick them on the cap and they get chucked with the cap.

Software - Glable it runs on Linux.

Get er brewed do 100 of a colour for 1.75

you can just bulk order a colour though

Get a sharpie and just tag the cap with what it is..

It ain't pretty I know but it does the job fine if you're not too fussed with the whole labeling ect

I have to admire the shelving and chalk board setup @Dutto has (bit jealous of it myself :lol:) although I would mess it up no doubt (if I had teh space in the garage to set something like that up!")

I use a white grout pen from poundland.
Writes on bottle easy, stays on if bottle gets wet. But when cleaning bottle comes straight off without hardly any effort with a metal scourer.

Wilkos have discontinued them, so fill up if your branch still has them. I called them and they say they will be back but they are a seasonal item, but they couldn't say when bottle capping season was starting again!

Get a Sharpie pen and number or initial the cap.. obviously write the code in your brew journal.

Thats how i do it I have my brewing log and each brew is numbered so I just write the number on the cap with a sharpie too, I also use different coloured caps but just so I know what is a Lager, Bitter Ipa etc at a glance then look the number up to further clarify which brew it was

I think it was recommended on here, but I just put a bit of masking tape on each bottle and write the details on that, then just pull it off once empty for cleaning then a new piece of tape for the next brew, simple.
