So I've got the bits today to start my first Brew tomorrow

So I've got the MYO Irish Stout kit
1kg of dextrose and 500g of medium malt.

Should I use all the sugar and malt together
Or
500g of sugar and 500g of the malt?

Cheers

Would syrup or treacle be worth a shot?
Guessing it might be better to keep it simple to start with

Golden syrup is a great way to up your ABV or brew shorter than the instructions if you want more oomph to your beer. be careful with treacle a little goes a lot further than u think.

So it's been 7 days fermenting, I've just added the hopps as per the instructions, nice smell but if like some feedback on the way it's looking if I could. I'll add a photo below. Look forward to your comments

I bottle my brew two weeks ago and kept it at around 20degrees. Popped a few bottles in the fridge last night. I've opened one to test now and its very carbonated, to the point of being like a fizzy soft drink. Does this calm down over time? I'm fairly impressed with the taste but not keen on the carbonation.

Either you bottled it a little too early and there was still some fermentable sugar in the wort or you put too much priming sugar in the bottles. How much priming sugar did you put in what size bottle?

I've had this with one of my lagers when I wanted it to be fizzy and overdid it. I eased one edge of the crown cap up with a bottle opener, held until it stopped fizzing and then cramped down the lid again with the crown corker.

I used as the instructions said, one tea spoon per 500ml bottle, I bottled half the batch and put the rest in a barrel, I'll try that with these bottles. It's also very thin, but like I said I'm very happy with the flavours

Yep, that's standard advice and it's too much. I'd use 2-3 grams max, not 4-4.5.
Try using this calculator from Brewers Friend. Put 1 litre in the quantity field and then haldf the result for each 500ml bottle.

Your beer'll be fine, by the way.

Cheers for the link, I'll be using that going forward, big learning curve but enjoying it so far

I brewed this, I just used 1kg dextrose.
I then barrelled it once fermenting was complete, I made a syrup using 3.5g of sugar per litre. Have to say its fantastic, comes out of the barrel like Guinness with a thick creamy head and just the right amount of fizz.

I brewed this yesterday. Used 1Kg dextrose, and added 200g of black treacle, and a couple of tablespoons of cocoa powder.
Brewed 21 litres, and has a starting gravity of 1.052
