Yes, I know exactly what you mean. Thankfully I still have one on loan. My wife has made her position clear on me buying one.... It would be a painful option by the sounds of it!

Yep. The rrp would significantly rise if I bought one and my wife found out the price.

Many thanks. I have various videos that show the Brewtools in action and also a review. It is not cheap but it is real deal premium for sure.

Ye, I watched the videos and now really want one. I think the difference in price between the Brewtools and GF70 is not enough to put me off the Brewtools, it is an impressive looking piece of kit! Hopefully in a few months Ill have saved enough...

How much is the 70 litre Hopcat? $650 AUD here, about 350 GBP conversion.

The only thing that bothers me with any plug in system is the fact that if will eventually stop working...it would be sooner rather than later if I got one.
ATM I can't seem to break my big shiny pots.

I believe every part of the expensive ones are replaceable, the element in the cheaper ones are not.

Well that's not true actually,

Well it is in the case of the Braumeister I made the assumption the over £1000 ones would be the same, you have mentioned one would you care to look at all the others to back up your sweeping statement? .

As I mentioned in my post, check out Magical pancakes posts in the Brew Devil thread on this forum.

That puts it in Brewtools league, and it just cannot compete with that top end build quality and interface. Just miles off...

You have mentioned one of the cheaper systems where it would seem you can change the element (i cannot find the thread) but this leaves all the other sub £1000 ones of which there are many where you cannot change the element therefore my original "I believe every part of the expensive ones are replaceable, the element in the cheaper ones are not" statement still stands.

I asked Angel home-brew if any of the brew devil all in ones had a replacement element and here is their reply -

Apologies Dave for hijacking the thread.

So as I and Angel home brew said you cannot replace the element in the Brew Devil which is a cheap part you can replace in the Braumeister, you have to replace the whole kettle body of Brew Devil and i cannot find one online to see how expensive they are compared to the aforementioned element.

The kettle body and element are all one piece, and so as I stated you can change the element. The BM element is an exposed low density element so not cheap. As I said in another post there isn't much can go wrong with the elements in Brew Devil they have a double trip protection, in the later models. that's why it carries a 3 year manufacturers warranty.

The BM element is £60 the system costs £1300 so i guess that's about where i would have expected it to be priced, i haven't seen any reports of them failing so maybe its not an issue, i cannot find the Brewdevil replacement body (with element) anywhere so cannot compare the price of the part to the purchase price of the BD.

Yes, that is true of most all in one systems. Not the BM or Brewtools though. Naturally these are much more expensive at the start though.
