There was a guy who canned his beer on a podcast I was listening to and he did it as a homebrewer, however it was expensive and cans obviously can't be reused.

I am getting annoyed with the amount of canned beers as they aren't any use to me... no free bottle with each beer!
 
This is a really good step forward though, hopefully in not too long canners will be even more affordable.

Also, really enjoying MM's new site.
 
Seems like you can get a whole production line in China ....bottling or canning Heineken

Are you cutting down on bottles in the UK?

Not only in China. One of my most memorable experiences (when I was young, naive, inexperienced and did not know what to expect) was in Malaysia on a coach journey when we stopped for a rest break near Ipoh. I needed to go to the wc. It wasn’t a wc. I won’t describe it in case anyone is about to have dinner after reading this.
If you want an interesting cultural experience, visit the zoo in Kunming, and whilst there go to the loo - just for a pee. Allow your imagination free reign - you'll still fall short.
(Any ladies reading this - DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, have a need to go to the loo in Kunming zoo.)

So what's not to like? And, unbelievably, you can buy the canning machine for substantially less than £1200. Wow! I'll have to do the maths, but this sounds well cheap. It looks so much easier than having to fill each bottle by hand.
But, I guess I have to consider this. For £1200 I could only buy a few kegs. New, only about 14. Hell, that's less than 270l of beer!
Worse, I'd have to pay for CO2 cylinders to deliver the beer. So, does canning sound better?
Err.... Probably not on reflection. At around 30p per can, not re-useable, I think I'll have to pass on this one......
 
They go mad on canning beer i the usa. Every instagram channel i follow is double fruity neipa and canning. The only benefit i can see is that it totally stops light. Its a lot of out lay for an expensive per use item.thats only recycable to the bin , not reusable. ill stick with glass a plastic bottles for the time being
 
The taproom at the Camden Brewery has a 'crowler'. It's a fearsome bit of kit.

It really doesn't seem worth the money. Cool piece of kit but hardly a must have for the average homebrewer. I feel the money would be better invested in a keezer, kegerator, Grainfather etc.
