Bit of weird question. I've brewed a couple of beers now, both of which have ended up with a banana bread like smell. It's not unpleasant, just unexpected.
One had Roasted Pumpkin (Spiced Pumpkin Amber Ale) in, the other Toasted Coconut (Coconut Brown Ale), so I'm presuming that's what's causing it. The other thing they had in common was that i used S-04 yeast, but I've used that in other beers without this.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this or have they come across it?

Some yeasts can give off a bananary esters when fermented too warm so that could possibly be it

That... makes sense. I don't have very good temperature control, my fermentors live in the corner of my kitchen and are pretty close to a radiator.

Maybe try putting something in between the rad and the fv in future. It may be enough to stop the worst of the direct heat off them if your short on space and can't move them elsewhere
