I've been reading about whirlpooling at the end of the boil instead of just dumping hops in at flame out or 5-10 minutes before. It seems to be better for aroma and flavour. I would like to introduce the technique to my brews, however I don't really want to buy any equipment to do it.

Would this be effective? At the end of the boil, using my paddle to whirlpool the wort and then throwing in the hops, putting the lid on and leaving it for 20 mins. Or should I cool down the wort a bit before doing this?

For steeping you should cool below 80 degrees. Higher and you’ll be adding bitterness from the hops

I don't bother with a steep I will do a hop tea or dry hop on day 14 of fermentation for 4 days then cold crash well coldish in the shed for 3 days, everything drops you are left with clear beer, has the same effect as above it just suits me

What do you mean by a hop tea?

I use pellets, boil 200ml water cool to 80c then had hops for 30 mins, I use between 30 and 50g depending on the brew I then chuck em in without a bag for 4 days then in the cold shed for 3 days by which time they should all drop to the bottom if you want more bitterness boil them for 10 mins
