Y'awrite?

Next stage of the keezer build is to find a solution to help keep humidity down and equalise temperatures between the top and bottom of the freezer.

I have sourced some old PC case fans, which I've seen used in keezers, but I'm not sure how to power them. Splicing an old phone charger seems a bit dodgy to me.

Similarly, I've seen US keezer owners use an Eva Dry E500 dehumidifier, but these don't seem available over this side of the pond.

Any suggestions?

Can you see the actual cooling coils or are they buried behind plastic? If you can see the coils and there is a drain then that will be the best dehumidifier, as any moisture will condense on them, then drip off and out of the drain when they turn off. That's how dehumidifiers work anyway.

12V fans will be fine run off a 12v DC wallwart type charger. Just try and make the connections waterproof if possible as you cannot guarantee total isolation with some of these. Most are fully isolated but I've had one instance of one giving a slight tingle on a battery charger because it had a capacitor loosely coupling one side to earth.
You can also get small dc power supplies intended for this in a plastic housing and wire it directly to the supply at the back of the fridge. You can then wire it to the compressor circuit so they only come on when it is actively cooling, and is more of one unit rather than two.

Buried behind plastic - there is a drain hole at the bottom of the freezer.

With regards to the fan, I might scrap the PC fan idea and just get a couple of cheap desk fans with clips that I can attach to keg handles to move some air about, it might be simpler and I'm less likely to electrocute anyone :laugh8:

I use fans in my fermentation fridge as it can tend to freeze up at the back during cold crashing without them. I just leave them on all the time which might be a bit of overkill, some people don't use them at all and have no problems. I found a cheap solution using amazon bought fans (x2) connected to a USB port which I connect up to an old phone charger. Works well for me and only runs at 5v/1a

That's the same brand but mine doesn't have the speed control

I use a PC fan for this. I snipped off the fan plug and soldered on a longer wire so it would reach outside the freezer. Then I fitted a barrel jack connector so it would mate with a variable voltage wall-wart supply that I got on Ebay for about a fiver. I run it at 9v.
