Firstly this is not a dig at Homebrew Online but I wonder have any of you had issues with delivery. I have ordered goods weeks ago from HBO and despite the payment being cleared the goods haven’t arrived.

I know HBO have sent the goods (that is why I am not complaining about them) with Hermes but sadly they haven’t delivered. Hermes have said that they tried but with two German Sheperds who go mental the minute the gate goes and motion activated cctv you would think we would have noticed them at the door . Hermes has a terrible reputation for delivery as there are complaints all over social media but it makes you wonder why companies use them.

I usually find Hermes reliable, if a little slow.

Parcelforce on the other hand...

Hermes have a bad rep. Mrs MQ has had problems with them. As for why companies use them; I think the delivery drivers are self employed and get payed per parcel delivered which makes them cheap for companies to use (I'm happy to be corrected on this as I'm not 100% sure)

As with most companies that employ self employed people it is very hard to vet them as to their suitability for the job. I would say that the majority of delivery drivers are pretty good and have reasonably good attitude to doing their job however it is open to abuse as anybody with transport can apply to do the job and as always a small percentage will spoil the system. I have heard and seen the nightmare deliveries on youtube etc but I do realise that a small percentage does spoil it and if you are one of the persons affected by a bad delivery it would be hard to convince you that 90% of the drivers are ok. I too have had parcels left behind nextdoors dustbin on their property instead of mine and no card to say it has been delivered but I know some of the drivers do try their best. I suppose it depends in which drivers area you are in that determines whether you get a good service or not

I've had quite a bit of stuff off HBO and had no problems...I'd contact them directly to sort it out as seeing as you haven't received the goods it's still their issue.

There is a large Hermes base near where I work at Omega - Jn 8 M62. The Hermes drivers do indeed behave is if they were being paid a small amount per parcel, rather than to represent their Brand.

Before Christmas I was waiting for a parcel and watched the Hermes attempt to stuff it through a door about five houses away...I stopped him and said wrong house...he acted "thick" and pretended to have made a "mistake"...bone idle!!
Also had another from Hermes posted at the wrong house...I contacted the seller who contacted them who replied with a front door picture...of the wrong house! I walked round until I found it ..

That seems to be the main complaint Clint that they just push it through the nearest letterbox knowing that good neighbours will drop it in. As I said earlier the one that left it behind the bins next door was obvoiusly one of the wayward ones as our houses are open plan gardens and if he had walked 6 foot further they could have put it behind my bin. The strange fact is it showed as delivered on the system

Well if it was weeks ago, I'd certainly raise issue with HBO, as whilst I agree it's not directly their fault, you've still not received the goods and which side should be responsible for that and chasing it up?. I'd assume that such deliveries are tracked (of sorts) and insured (or sorts) if they have gone missing and can't be located. In this case if unresolved for this long I'd be going via the card provider for a refund.

Only had one problem with Hermes & suspect it was the local delivery people, (who are usually good here) problem somewhere else in the chain - firkin expensive mobile present for her indoors vanished en route. Seller was amazon so no issues with refund etc but no present on time......in the dog house again.

For HB supplies I use the home brew shop - used to work not far from them in Farnborough so picked up now moved to deepest darkest suffolk. They use Parcel Force and they have been 100% reliable the 8 years we have been here. Also the parcel force delivery driver is self employed, I commented once his van was the wrong colour and he explained that as he wasn't a parcel force employee he didn't get a red van with parcel force logo.

I have a Hermes return fur Amazon, 12 days and it still with them.
I better get my refund!

Also inform the sender if you weren't asked to sign for a package if you were in. Often you have to pay extra for this. The drivers just sign for the package themselves.

That’s probably preferable to those actually employed by Parcelforce. They refuse to leave packages in my safe place, and claim the box is too heavy to take to my local post office. As a result they take it back to the depot in Perth, 30 miles away (I live in Scotland’s 4th biggest city and Parcelforce don’t have a depot here!), which means either having to arrange for my parents to go to my house for the delivery, only ordering for delivery when I have a week off work, or driving for the best part of an hour to pick it up from depot!

Delivered by Hermes ...

... two days late, burst package repaired with sellotape and with dented cans!

Send it back!

Ha! It was a Wilko parcel and I had paid them £8 for "Next Day Delivery".

It arrived as shown in the photograph TWO DAYS LATE. I have tried to flag the problem with Wilko Customer Services on TWO occasions without a response.

Customer Services? Ha!

I have no intention of using Wilko in the future and cannot recommend their delivery service; even if it was free!
