Brewed up a Coopers IPA kit a while back which turned out well. We put it in a barrel and it didn't stay there long!

As to non-kit brews, I followed a recipe for mild ale in an old "Home Booze" book (H.E.Bravery) which was very good. I made 2 gallons of it twice and would do again. I also made an ale using pumkpin as an adjunct which worked out nicely. No particular recipe so would never be able to make the exact same brew again, but the experiment worked!

Third I struggle with but probably this year's blackberry dark beer

My favourite so far was my Milk Stout.
Number two goes to a Hefeweizen I brewed last year.
And third place to an elderflower saison
All all grain brews.

My favourite is a 5.4% IPA I call Summer Breeze because it’s a really nice summer ale. Uses a simple grain bill -Vienna base, Caramalt 30, torrified wheat for head retention. Fresh and hoppy taste from Citra and Galaxy hops. Have this fermenting at the moment.

To this I’d add a 4.7% brown ale that I have on at the moment. I call this one Trinity because it uses three base malts, three specialty malts, three hops.

Third is a 4.7% stout I have on at the moment that I still haven’t named yet but continue to enjoy nonetheless. Working title - “the stout”.

My best was probably a British barleywine I did many years , that ended up with the second highest score in a competition.
Second would be a helles bock I did a few years ago that also did very well in competition.
Third would be my lemon-rosemary blonde ale.
 
I think my first one I ever brewed had something magical about it that cannot be forgotten. It wasn't anything special and was just a Simply Bitter kit - but it worked. I didn't know any better or anything really, so it proved to me that I could homebrew and have something worthwhile at the end of it.
I also was just amazed at how it improved over time.
Since then I've been over-critical on everything I brew in my strive to do better, so have lost that awe and become a critic. But this just makes me want to try and improve things as I go along, which is a good thing I think.
 
My first AG brew was a Ghost Ship clone and whether it was that good or if it was just such a leap from the previous kits I had done that made it seem great, but I have very fond memories of that beer. 'Twas lovely.

My current brew, a clone of Brewdogs Hop Fiction is just maturing nicely and is a gorgeous hoppy pint, and definitely one that'll be seeing the inside of my fermenter again soon

Finally, I recently made a saaz pilsner that was bloody lovely and my clearest beer to date - my first foray into gelatine fining and I have to say it worked a treat.

Ah, beer. It makes me happy.

I'd love to see the recipes you used for all three of these if you wouldn't mind please.

I'll have a dig through the brew log when I get home from work and see how much recipe info I have on them. The ghost ship and hop fiction were based on recipes I found online, the saaz pilsner was basically a SMaSH lager.

I am just a bit intrigued. I had a bash at a Ghostship type pale ale which I kegged at the weekend but haven't tried it yet: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/892971/kettle-ghostship

Also at the weekend I had my first go at a Pilsner/Lager (fake) which is in the FV now: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/930886/kettle-pilsner

Will be interesting to see how the recipes compare.

Recipe was concocted to use up some leftovers - should probably have called it “bubble n squeak”!

1.2Kg Pilsner
1.4Kg Maris Otter
2.0Kg Vienna
260g Dark Crystal 250 EBC
160g Dark Crystal 385 EBC
70g Chocolate Malt 900 EBC
110g Torrified wheat (head retention)
75 min mash at 150F

15g Simcoe (60 min)
30g Simcoe (15 min)
30g Mosaic (15 min)
30g Vic Secret (15 min)
1/2 Protofloc tablet at 15 mins

22 litres in the fermenter, OG=1046
20g Liberty Bell yeast

Dry hop on day 3:
30g Simcoe
30g Mosaic
30g Vic Secret

Keg on day 8, FG=1010

Gutted I can't find the ghost ship recipe. I remember I used the Malt Miller recipe builder before their website changed and it is no longer there. My notes only relate to volumes and gravities and that.

The hop fiction recipe, I got from the DIY Dawg app which is basically the brewdog diy thing they released but put together in app form by some clever person.

The saaz pilsner was 4.5kg of pilsner, 8g of magnum at 60 and then 40g of saaz at both 30 and 5 minutes.

Fermented at 12’c and ramped up after about a week or so to 19’c . Used a couple packs of fermentis saflager w-34/70.

i've enjoyed all of mine bar 3 out of 55 brews and never had to tip any so can't complain but would choose ....
face off sour 7.2% ish
king kong 12.86% quad stout
and a working hard in the yard belgian wit. 5% ish hoegaarden style wit.
 
For me it has to be Dennis Kings Galaxy Delight at number 1. I have brewed it more than anything else.

2. Is Seymour's Citra Gold. This is a really good beer that always goes down well.

3. Greg Hughes Cream Ale. Really surprised, friends got through the entire keg in one sitting.

So, using the stock I had my recipe was:
Pale 4600g
Crystal 420g
Chocolate 70g
Summit 20g @ 60min
Summit, Citra, Brewers Gold 10g each @ 10min
Summit 17g, Citra 20g, Brewers Gold 20g dry hop
Brewed 4th Feb. On 31st march I was disappointed but now all the hops are coming through and it is really nice. This is much more bitter than my usual brews and I really like it.
